New material for environment conservation
With the development of petro-chemistry and polymer chemistry, synthetic plastic was developed as an alternative to natural material such as wood and steel. With the low cost, low specific gravity, and superior molding quality, it is even difficult to imagine the world without plastic.

But the plastic is considered to be a major cause of environment pollution as it is not degraded within hundreds of years in natural environment.

Therefore the demand for new material without environmental pollution got high and the answer is 'bio-degradable plastic'.

Bio-degradable plastic is a plastic which can be degraded completely into water and carbon dioxide or water and methane gas by natural micro organism like bacteria, algae, and mold.
Most bio-degradable plastic is made from starch or aliphatic polyester.
Starchy method is done through adding corn or potato, and it is completely bio-degraded.

What is the change of PLA in market?
That's durability.
Petroleum, the first material source of now wrapping material and artificial fiber will not be supplied easily in 20~70 years.

but the PLA is completely recyclable and continuous resource supply is possible as it is made from recyclable resource. And with the same function as the old plastic with price competitiveness to petro-chemical products. This price competitiveness is expected to grow in proportion to running out of petroleum resource.
